Honolulu, HI

when one gets off the plane in HNL airport, one of the first things you'll often notice are the restroom signs that have a distinctly Hawaiian theme

view of Magic Island and Ala Moana Beach from our hotel balcony

ships in the nearby dock

amazing nighttime views... notice how closely compacted the city is... almost no lights appear up on the mountainside at the city limits

the docks and Magic Island at night

Kualoa Regional Park
it was so beautiful and peaceful at Kualoa... the four of us were among the only people there in most places
a handful of people off in the distance

this concrete seawall made for sheltered shallows in which to frolic easily

a couple of really nice little houses on a northward shore

Andrea and Daniele under the tall, tall palm trees

our bird friend... he showed up a few times on this trip

more lush expanse of fields, etc

i love how volcanic mountains look...

... and how they can form strange, beautiful outcroppings

sitting out in the water near the Mokoli`i island
a beautiful, deserted beach that we found

the water looks wonderful

first swim of the trip... and it was fantastic
i liked the appearance of this tree's bark

looking down through about three feet of crystal clear water

interesting driftwood

more shots of the awesome, jagged bassalt cliffs and mountains
Small Cove
a small cove at the roadside Makapu'u Point

a look out to sea across Waimanalo Bay to the nameless rock islands

Makapu'u Point lighthouse... its original "hyper radiant" Fresnel lens (one of the world's most powerful lenses) is still in use today and is the only one of its kind in use in the country

more shots of this lovely little cove
lots of photos in and among the surf
a great license plate
driving to Blowhole beach
another image of those captivating, deserted rock islands

warning signs with awesome images

Hidden Beach
the blowhole is to the northeast
Andrea looks out to the east, over the edge and out beyond the stretch of nothingness that is the deep, blue Pacific Ocean

looking out from the scenic overlook near the blowhole, one could also peer down to the south at a cove cut into the rock
it was clear that some locals went down there somehow...

... so i found a way down along the rock face

Andrea and Daniele followed
they just chilled out on the stones...
... but of course i had to hop into the water again

Ala Moana State Park
this was the beach nearest to our hotel

it was a lot of fun

a litle bit more crowded

but they had lots of spam musubi at the snack bar!

Waikiki at Night
the torches all over Waikiki streets are cool

stopping by the statue of Duke Kahanamoku

everyone was a little bit toasted at this point...

... including me

Training
after spending a number of days in Hawaii, we all remembered that i had to get some actual work done

i conducted a stellar lockpicking class as always and my students were terrific

i had fun

ShakaCon
the view from outside the convention center was remarkable

and inside was cool, too

the structure is open

and filled with botanical gardens

loads of natural skylights and planters

Pyr0 giving his espionage talk

has this man broken into your building? you wouldn't likely know even if the answer is yes.

Pyr0's standard equipment on a job

a series of tubes. ;-)

time for more sushi

Daniele picking locks

Pyr0 and Geffner rock the locks

my silly notion of an artistic shot

more gardens at the Convention Center

the entire rear of the building is open to the outside

Gringo Warrior

Lockpick Village

Kaleen works on her handcuffs

Breaking out of a Mexican jail

Conference staff enjoyed being here in their downtime

We called this the "Come to Hawaii, Receive Bacon" statue

Out to Dinner
Lots of happy speakers

Lots of pitchers of beer

cool dollar artwork

kickass keychain

Lockpick Village & Gringo Warrior
Henry rocks his way to freedom
The Gringo jail setup
Kaleen looks fine all the time, but this was one stellar outfit... and the sex shop handcuffs are cute, too.

Geffner checks out the sexy cuffs

Making drinks in the Lockpick Village

More cocktails

Pyr0 helps break down Gringo by deflating the guard

Post-Con Speaker's Dinner
Pyr0, Andrea, and i

Daniele and in the blurred background we see Joe McCray and Jason Geffner

a nice statue that Daisy liked

Paul Craig, Ed, and Pyr0

we didn't care about these indications...

... we wanted a good photo op on the harbor   =)
